Hello dear fellow Hermès scarf enthusiasts!
I have only just joined the community of hermès scarf enthusiasts. I am very happy to have discovered Scarfsage as a reference Database for purchases I contemplate. What a wonderful treasure this is. An yet, there is so much more to be added. I would dearly love to contribute. However, when perusing the posts it appears that no one has been active here for a while an I was wondering whether there is still anyone here discussing things and further developing this place. I actually very much hope so!
Kind regards to everyone
Esther
Hi Esther
Welcome to this wonderful resource. I agree that there is still much to be added and hope that over time many more scarf enthusiasts will contribute. So far, I have posted most 90cm and 70cm scarves that we own and usually check the site for additions/posts several times per week.
I know what you mean. I posted some of my scarves with colorways that hadn’t yet been listed, looking for feedback but never heard a peep from anyone. That was about 6 months ago or so.
Yes, this is the impression one gets when looking at the site.
And while I marvel at the work that has been done here and would very much like to contribute I have been wondering whether it’s worth my while.
No problem if the ower just does not find enough time to use the information given to him right away (I can very well relate to that, at this very moment procrastinating from my own work). In that case it would be nice to find some reassuring information about this as not to feel discouraged regarding future contributions.
I have plenty to add but as a new user am VERY limited to my contributions.
Hi all, Im Aniza from Malaysia and I just sign up in this community. By the way, I have few collection of Hermes Scarf and I really love the Hermes scarf. So I hope I can learn more about or anything about Hermes scarf. Thanks and have a nice day
Scarfsage community is not very active, as most Hermès scarf enthusiasts prefer using Facebook groups.
I still maintain the community for contributions and process them whenever I have spare time. I understand it may look inactive, but please keep in mind that this is not a business — I run everything in my spare time.
The database will remain online, and I will review and add your contribution as soon as I can.
Hi Esther -
yes, you bet there are people (eg me) still out there. This is a great site for reference purposes, and Baptiste and friends have built something really remarkable. I find it very useful and indeed interesting (who knew all those versions of Brides, for example?) when I want to authenticate this or that scarf or label or pin down if that version I have is an original issue or a re-issue. And yes, from time to time anoraks (eg me again) discuss this or that aspect. I love the chain on labels, to take one example.
But why not launch a couple of thought-provoking topics, and I think you will see the rest of us spring into action to comment, discuss, disagree etc etc - ? I know I would.
For example - not tying scarves but using hijab magnet fasteners; what is it about Brides de gala that has proved so successful; scarves used in film to signal - well, what exactly? Hermes in The Devil Wears Prada - brilliant product placement or tacky over-exposure? on what planet did a Hermes designer think a scarf with one half blonde hair design, the other half brunette hair design a good idea? What about tracking the rise and fall (or the rise and rise) of resale value in Hermes scarves across the years, just as (say) Collectorsquare tracks the fluctuation in resale prices of Birkins?
You see, the list of topics is almost endless!
Hope you enjoy the site, and welcome to the community
Carolyn
